Pressure Boosting System

Definition: A pressure boosting system (PBS) refers to a pump installation that is intended to increase the supply pressure in the water supply and is automatically controlled. Technically, this requirement is met by one or several pressure boosting pumps that transport the medium through a bypass line into the main line. PBS are used for individual buildings as well as entire municipalities. They are used when the system pressure of the water supply is insufficient to supply all water users. This is particularly the case with high-rise buildings and residential areas that are at a higher elevation than others. A challenge in pressure boosting is to ensure a constant supply pressure when the usage quantities fluctuate. It is made possible by means of an automatic control, which generally features an electronic support. Back
