Overview

Damage

Generally speaking, damage is any disadvantage that persons or property suffer as a result of an event. In the industrial context, this usually refers to changes to a component that result in it no longer being able to fulfill its original function.

What are the causes of damage to pumps?

Damage to a pump can have many causes. Possible triggers for damage are, for example
  • wear,
  • mechanical stress and
  • aggressive media.
Wear can be reduced in advance by using low-wear or wear-free components. Excessive mechanical stress on components can also be avoided by correct design. If aggressive media are used, corrosion can be counteracted by designing the pump with low leakage and suitable components in contact with the medium.
