Commissioning

The initial proper use of a machine is designated as commissioning. Commissioning is also defined in the Machinery Directive. What must be observed during the commissioning of a pump? A machine—such as a pump—may be commissioned only when it is ensured that it meets all the relevant directives. Depending on the country of commissioning, the country-specific declarations of conformity and markings must also be observed. Besides the pump itself, the components associated with it must also be taken into account. This includes the motor, and also the foundation. Operating companies must also check the pumps for damages and ensure that the personnel has received a technical introduction about function and handling. Once the pump started operating, it has to be monitored and maintained at regular intervals. Pump manufacturers establish specifications for proper maintenance intervals and, upon request, will also perform the maintenance.
