Pump installation

A pump installation describes the complete technical installation that is used for handling a fluid. Its central element is the pump, whereby it could also exclusively refer to the space flown through by the medium without the pump.

A fundamental distinction is made between pressure-side and suction-side installations. The former is located between the respective inlet cross-section of installation and pump, the latter between outlet cross-section of installation and pump. The two installation types have in common that they comprise one container and the piping, including additional components such as connections and valves, gaskets and screw connections.

Many pump manufacturers offer standardized pump installations for defined application areas as well as the manufacture of application-specific installations. If the manufacturer has the necessary means – for example, their own piping construction – they can be produced in their entirety with all the fittings at the manufacturer and transported to the user ready for operation.
